  • 2 pounds potatoes, sliced Russet or Yukon Gold recommended
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cheese, shredded Choose your preferred type of cheese
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for greasing

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a baking dish with butter.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine milk, cheese, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Pour half of the mixture over the potatoes.
  • Add the remaining potatoes and top with the rest of the milk mixture.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.

Notes

For a unique flavor, try using different types of cheese. Ensure even slicing of potatoes for uniform cooking. Add breadcrumbs on top for extra texture.
