Ingredients
  

Potatoes and Onions

  • 6 medium medium potatoes, peeled and sliced
  • 1 large large onion, thinly sliced

Cream and Cheese

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)

Seasoning and Garnish

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  • Add a layer of half the onions.
  • Pour half of the heavy cream over the layers.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, onions, and cream.
  • Top with shredded cheese and dot with butter.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let it cool slightly before serving, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days; reheat before serving. For extra crunch, consider adding breadcrumbs on top before baking.
