  • 1 cup butter, softened Make sure your butter is soft for the best creamy texture.
  • 1 cup sugar You can reduce the amount of sugar if desired.
  • 2 cups flour Consider adding a teaspoon of cinnamon for extra flavor.
  • 4 large eggs Can substitute with flaxseed meal mixed with water if needed.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or dried fruit Feel free to use nuts or coconut for variations.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder

Preparation and Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, stirring until well combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips or dried fruit.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool before slicing into squares.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days; freeze for longer storage up to two months.
